Having worked as a partner for a Melbourne-based mid-tier firm, Silk’s founder Karen Stecki, recognised the need for SMEs to better refine, simplify, and think more strategically about the way their accounting and administration functions in order to cultivate improved performance and growth.

Karen Stecki

Principal Consultant, CPA

CPA-qualified, Karen has over 20 years’ experience in accounting and advisory, and is inherently passionate about helping small to medium-sized business operate and thrive. Karen set up Silk Business Advisors in 2015, after returning from maternity leave, and has since nurtured a flair for helping other small business owners grow, prosper and successfully juggle all of life’s demands. Having formerly been a partner for a mid-tier firm, Karen has successfully applied the insights and knowledge gained from her own trajectory, to helping clients with business growth and improved overall performance.   

Jen Burrows

Accountant, CPA

Having joined the Silk team in February 2018, Jen is CPA-qualified with over twenty years’ experience in public practice. Jen has worked both on the Peninsula and in regional Victoria and has gained a broad spectrum of experience to meet many different bookkeeping, accounting and taxation requirements. 


Jen has three children, works part-time, and values the unique dynamic a family-work life balance brings.

Julie Matthews

Corporate Secretarial Administrator

Julie joined Silk in 2015 along with Karen and has been involved in looking after the Corporate Secretarial needs of the firm’s clients. Having studied a Bachelor of Accounting, Julie has over 8 years industry experience. 

Julie runs her own small business and understands the pressures and formalities that come with it; she is passionate about helping clients with the administration aspects of setting up and maintaining successful businesses with government bodies.

Sue Jovetic


Sue joined the team as a bookkeeper in January 2018. Passionate about aiding small business owners with their financial requirements, she has over 11 years’ experience running her own business in IT as well as an in depth understanding of both Xero and MYOB software. Sue has also worked as the Administration Manager for her husband’s construction business for over a decade. 


Sue is passionate about facilitating affordable, outsourced financial solutions for small to medium-sized businesses who don’t require a full-time bookkeeper. Having first-hand experience in running small businesses, Sue prides herself on assisting Silk Business Advisor’s clients in becoming successful, organised operators.  

Dale Sadler


Dale joined the Silk team in March 2017, bringing with her extensive project management and business analysis experience from the financial services sector. Dale has postgraduate qualifications in business management and applies this in conjunction with her financial background to assisting clients progress within their businesses through smart, bookkeeping solutions. 


Being a mother of two children, Dale understands and fully appreciates cultivating balance between work and family, and is passionate about helping her clients successfully achieve this.
